“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” (Eph. 1:3).

Key Questions

• What happened to ME at the cross?
• What is the logic that connects me to what happened there, so that it changes me?
• And who am I now, because Jesus lived and died for me?
• Where do you live? The two places that matter most: in Christ or outside of him.
• Where do you walk (Col. 2:6)?
• Where are you rooted (Col. 2:7)?

Ephesians 1:1-14

• How many times does it say “In Christ” (or equivalent: “in Him,” “in the Beloved,” etc.)?
• Where is every spiritual blessing found?
• What blessings do you notice?

IN Christ

• To us, it’s strange to be “in” a person, but not to the Bible.
• In Abraham (Gal. 3:27)
• In Adam versus in Christ (1 Cor. 15:22)
• Throughout Scripture, God saves by bringing people into a place of refuge and relationship: Into Noah’s ark, into the Passover house, through the Red Sea, and into the Promised Land.
• The Christian life exists within a person, as we find a new identity and home in Jesus Christ.

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him” (Rom. 6:4-6).

WITH Christ

• His story becomes our story.
• His death (Rom. 6:5, Gal. 2:20)
• His burial (Rom. 6:4)
• His resurrection (Rom. 6:8)
• His ascension to sit in heaven (Eph. 2:6; Col. 3:3)
• His appearing in glory (Col. 3:4)

THROUGH Christ

• Power, prayer, life, and fruit (John 15; Phil. 4:13; Eph. 2:18, 6:10)
• “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing … If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:5,7).

“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised” (2 Cor. 5:14-15).

FOR Christ

• We have a new purpose and place to live from.
• “*I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Gal. 2:20).
• He is our “why,” our reason, mission, and life.

The Mosaic

• Throughout this series, we’ve stood before a mosaic of Christ. Each picture revealed another beautiful part of the gospel.
• Don’t just admire the picture; step inside it. God invites us to live in Christ.
• In this way, his life becomes our life, his Father becomes our Father, his Spirit becomes our Spirit, his people become our people, his victory becomes our victory.
