“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matt. 7:24).

Not every difference matters equally. But following Jesus requires humble, careful discernment.

Look at Matthew 7

  1. The Road — Matt. 7:13-14
It matters which road you take.

  2. The Fruit — Matt. 7:15-20
It matters who you listen to.

  3. The Lord — Matt. 7:21-23
It matters whose will you do.

  4. The Foundation — Matt. 7:24-27
It matters what you do with Jesus’ words.

  5. The Authority — Matt. 7:28-29
Jesus is Lord. What Jesus says matters.

Jesus is Lord. What Jesus says matters.

Look Closer

  • Acts 17:11
  • Matt. 28:18-20
  • John 12:47-50
  • 2 Tim. 3:14-17

Put It in Your Own Words

Where am I tempted to shrug instead of looking more closely at what Jesus has said?
